Nursing research is of great importance to all of us. In this animated short, the importance of nursing research is being told, and how the Leadership Mentoring in Nursing Research 2.0 (LMNR) program pursues its importance.
a cinematic look
In order to create a bigger visual impact to convey the message of the story, Jelle and I decided to turn the story into a more cinematic short film, instead of a conventional explainer video. An important requirement was to not only inform, but also to inspire and motivate among other potential nurses.
Besides the cinematic approach in the chosen shots, we also wanted to give the whole asthetic of the movie a subtle handcrafted look and feel. Therefore we used paper-like filters, to make it look less 'clean and sleek'.
the circle of life
A huge production challenge was to show the course of the life of Toon (our protagonist), from baby till his last breath. And not only Toon, but also his wife and daughter. We ended up with a whopping 42 rigs in the full animation, a substantially higher number than I've ever done before.
